About UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination
The Indian Administrative service is considered to be one of the most elite services of the Government of India. It is also one of the toughest entrance exams of all. The candidates who clear the exams, in the future will hold some of the key positions in the Union Government, public sector undertakings and in different states.
Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Mains 2017
For any entrance exam there is certain eligibility criteria that the candidates need to fulfill prior to the submission of the application. UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination is no exception and the eligibility criteria for the CSE / IAS (Mains) is mentioned below –
Citizenship – The candidates must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. A Tibetan refugee who has migrated to India prior to 1st January, 1962 with the intention of settling down permanently is eligible for the exam. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Vietnam, Burma, Sri Lanka and South African countries with the sole objective of settling down in India permanently is allowed to sit for the exam as well.
Age Limit – The age of the candidate must be a minimum of 21 years and the maximum of 32 years as of 1st August of the exam year. Certain relaxations are provided for the reserved categories.
Educational Qualification – The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized University or equivalent.
Application Fee for the UPSC Mains 2017
The application fee that the candidate needs to pay is a sum of Rs. 200. It can be deposited in any nearby SBI branch by cash or the candidates can go online and pay the amount through their debit card or credit card.
Application Process in UPSC Mains 2017
• The aspirant must visit the official website of UPSC, upsconline.nic.in and fill up the application form there. In order to complete the application form, the candidate must scan their photograph and signature as well.
• Once the application form is duly filled up the candidate must take a printout of the same for future reference.
Syllabus of UPSC Mains 2017
English and General Knowledge are the two subjects that are there in the syllabus. Apart from that, Essay writing will be there along with Optional Subjects. Comprehension, Usage and Vocabulary, Précis Writing is also part of the syllabus.
Exam Pattern of UPSC Mains 2017
Personality test of 275 marks is also conducted with the candidates who have cleared the written exam successfully.
Admit card of UPSC Mains 2017
The admit card is made available online three weeks prior to the commencement of the Main exam. The candidates can download the e-admit card with the help of registration number or date of birth.
Results of UPSC Mains 2017
The candidate can view their results at upsconline.nic.in with the help of their registration number or roll number.
Important Dates of UPSC Mains 2017
The tentative date schedule of the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Exam 2017 is as follows –
• Date of Notification – By September 2017, the notification will be published in employment news and other employment gazettes
• Last date of application- One month’s time is provided to the applicants to submit the form
• Download e-Admit card – Last week of M Second week of December 2017
• Date of Examination – In December 2017 the exam will be conducted by UPSC
• Deceleration of UPSC Mains Exam Results – Last week of January 2017
