The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Combined Medical Services Examination is a great opportunity for all the budding MBBS. After going through this exam, they will be appointed in the different Government sectors. Upon the successful completion of the exam, the candidate shall be appointed to the position of Assistant Divisional Medical officer in the Railways or in the Indian Ordnance Factories Health Services. Medical Officers in the Municipal Corporations of Delhi are also appointed through this CMS exam.

Eligibility Criteria of UPSC CMS Exam 2017
Educational Qualification – The candidate must clear the MBBS final written exam as well as the practical exam. Students who have appeared for the final exams might also apply, but their application will be subject to cancellation, in case they are not able to provide the passing certificate once the result is out.
Citizenship – The candidate must be an Indian citizen or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. In case of Tibetan Refugee, they will be allowed to sit for the exam if they have crossed over to India prior to January 1st, 1962 with the intention of settling down permanently.
Age Limit – If the candidate is thinking about applying for the exam, then there is an age criterion for that. The candidate must be below 32 years in the exam year.
Application Fee for the UPSC CMS Exam 2017
The amount that is being charged for the CMS exam application form is Rs. 200. The SC/ ST/ Female candidates are exempted from this fee. This fee can be paid in any SBI branch by cash. The candidate can also pay the amount online with their debit card or credit card.
Application Process in UPSC CMS Exam 2017
In order to apply for the CMS exam the candidate will have to follow the below mentioned instructions –
• The first thing that the candidate needs to do is to visit the official website upsconline.nic.in
• Once the candidate is there they need to click on the application form link and they will be made available with various application form
• Click on the Combined Medical Services and it will take you to the next page
• There the candidate will have to select the Part I registration
• Go through the instruction minutely and fill up the form with accurate details
• Now it is time to fill up the Registration Part II
• Here the photo and signature needs to be uploaded
• Go through the uploaded details once again to ensure that every detail is correctly mentioned
• Now submit the application form and then download the application form
• The candidate can take a print out of the application form and keep the hard copy with themselves
Syllabus of UPSC CMS Exam 2017
The General Ability questions include distribution of natural resources, their exploitation and several other related issues, recent trends in Technology and Science, Indian Agriculture, Trade, Industry, Service Sectors and Transportation. General medicine topics include questions of Cardiology, Neurology, Respiratory diseases, Psychiatry, etc. There will be questions from the field of Paediatrics as well. General Surgery, Neuro surgery, Opthamology, etc. Obstetrics, Family Planning and other topics are also part of the syllabus.
Exam Pattern of UPSC CMS Exam 2017
There is 1/3rd negative marking for each wrong answer, so the candidates must restrict themselves from taking a wild guess. The candidates will be evaluated on the basis of following questions.

Earlier the exam was a written one, but from the year 2014 the exam pattern has been changed. Now it is a computer based exam.
Admit Card for UPSC CMS Exam 2017
The admit card will be made available on the official website upsconline.nic.in and download it from there. In order to download the e-admit card, the candidate need to provide details like registration number and password or the date of birth. Once these details have been updated the admit card will open up in the pdf format that the candidates need to download.
Result of UPSC CMS Exam 2017
When the candidates clear the written exam successfully they will be called for an interview round for the Personality Test.
