Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Prelim Entrance Exam for Civil Services to ensure the quality of the candidates appearing for the main CSE/ IFS exam. The Civil Services Aptitude Test is designed in such a manner that it will help in screening the suitable candidates. So, all the students who have been thinking of appearing in the CSE/ IFS entrance exam will now have to go through two rounds of written exam and one round of interview before they are selected.

About UPSC Civil Services Aptitude Test
The candidates will be allowed to sit for the CSAT Main entrance exam, only if they clear the prelim exams. UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts the exam to screen the candidates for the final written exam. Once they clear the written exam and the final interview round, the candidates will be recruited in the vacant positions in Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Postal Service, Indian Railway Traffic Service, Indian Railway Personnel Service, Indian Trade Service (Gr. III), etc.
Eligibility Criteria for CSAT 2017 (CSE/IFS Prelims)
There are certain criteria that the candidates need to fulfill before they can apply for the written CSAT (CSE/IFS Prelims) exam.
Citizenship – The candidate appearing in the exam must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. A Tibetan refugee who shifted to India prior to 1st January, 1962 with the intention of settling down in India permanently or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan, Vietnam and South African countries with the intention of settling down permanently.
Age Limit – The candidate needs to be a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 32 years as on 1st August of the year of examination. Certain age relaxations are provided in the reserved categories.
Educational Qualification – A Bachelor’s degree is a must for the candidates who intend to sit for the prelim exam.
Application Fee for CSAT 2017 (CSE/IFS Prelims)
The candidates will have to pay Rs. 100 for the prelim exam by cash in nearby SBI Branch or they can also pay through Master / Visa debit card or credit card. Female candidates/ SC/ ST and PH candidates are exempted from the payment of fees.

• Candidates must fill the application form completely and ensure that all the details that are provided in there are true.
Syllabus of CSAT 2017 (CSE/IFS Prelims)
General Studies, General Mental Ability and Current Affairs are part of the CSAT (CSE/IFS Prelims) exam. Social and economic development, environmental ecology and climate change are included in the syllabus.
Exam Pattern of CSAT 2017 (CSE/IFS Prelims)
There is negative marking, so candidates must avoid marking a question, if they are not sure about the answer.
Admit Card of CSAT 2017 (CSE/IFS Prelims)
The admit card will be made available online at www.upsconline.nic.in. The candidates need to download the e-admit card by providing the registration number or the date of birth.
Results of CSAT (CSE/IFS Prelims) 2017
The result will be declared in the month of October (tentatively). The candidates will be able to view the result by providing the registration number or roll number.
